Sri Lanka: Youth Mark World Population Reaching 7 Billion
Colombo, Sri Lanka– October 14th, 2011, the 7 Billion Actions campaign hits the streets of Colombo with a fun-filled bus painting event with Sri Lankan youth.
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, in collaboration with local youth groups in Sri Lanka, organized a bus painting event carrying the message – “In a world of 7 billion and counting, we need to count on each other” to engage young people and raise awareness on what it means to live in a world of 7 billion people.
Music, traditional dances, quizzes on Sri Lanka’s population and giveaways of 7 billion souvenirs kept the young crowd entertained. Local celebrities also dropped in to show their support.
